Community Safety Essentials: The Crime & Disorder Act 1998

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (CDA 1998) is the legislation that established the statutory framework for multi‐agency community safety in England and Wales. It created Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs) and placed shared responsibility on local authorities, police, probation, health, fire and rescue, and other partners to prevent and reduce crime, disorder, anti‐social behaviour, substance misuse, and reoffending.
